Because
of extreme weather conditions, the timing is suggested to be mid
September. We will run program with two or more persons.
The Potala Palace, home of the exiled Dalai Lama rises out of the
Tibetan Plateau and is a place of spiritual pilgrimage. Visit the Potala, watch the
sun rise over Mount Everest! It is the adventure of a lifetime to take the road through the Himalayas from Lhasa to Kathmandu and explore these remote, gentle, spiritual countries.

Day 1 .... Fly from Hong Kong to Chengdu. Meet Chinese
guides and afternoon visit to the Panda Breeding Centre. Last years group saw
two baby
pandas - the size of "butter sticks". Check into the Jinjiang Hotel for one night. (D)
Day 2 .... Early flight to Lhasa.
either from Chengdu, China or Kathmandu. Meet guide and transfer to the Lhasa
Hotel for four nights. On the first day you will rest to help acclimatize to the
altitude. Oxygen is available in the hotel. Sightseeing over the next three days to
the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Silk factory and the Tibetan
Marketplace and Rug Factory. (B,L,D)
Day 5... Take four wheel drive Land Rovers to
Gyantze, and enjoy a
picnic lunch at picture perfect scenic Lake Yumzhou Hum, (seen below). Overnight at the Gyantze
Guest House (B,L,D)
Day 6... Travel to Xigatse traditional home
of the Panchen Lama. See the Tashilumpo Moastery. This remote region provides a
good opportunity to view
nomadic Tibetans who herd yak and at this time of year are
bringing in the harvest. (B,L,D)
Day 7 .... A great day of mountain viewing as you
travel through the Himalayas to the quaint village of Tingri.
Overnight
at the Tingri Hotel.(B,L,D)

Day 8 .... Up early today for a chance to see the
sunrise over Mt. Everest. (and we did in 99). Motor today over the high
mountain pass (17,000 feet) and a steep descent into Zhangmu, located 7
miles from the Nepalese border. (B,L,D)
Day 9 .... Say goodbye to Chinese driver at the
Friendship Bridge. Meet Nepalese driver who will take you to Kathmandu
through a spectacular gorge. (see Nepal Nepal tours)
